INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE

UniBa aims with ambition towards internationalization. Through close collaboration with Civil Society and business, utilizing the capacities of the Jean MONET Chair and the UNESCO Chair, it aims to contribute to the development of knowledge at national, regional and international level, within the UniBa aims with ambition towards internationalize profiles of its fields of study: economics, finance, law, social and political science, public administration, education, sports and recreation, architecture, IT, engineering and teacher training. The institution is committed to creating all the opportunities and facilities for the reception and accommodation of international students and academic staff. It plans to evaluate the offer of study programs or special classes in some of the European Union languages as well, to make them more attractive as well as to facilitate the integration of foreign students and invited professors within academic exchanges. Barleti aims to create mobility opportunities for students in all its study programs and in all study cycles. Mobility for Master’s degree students has been increasing year by year, along with the introduction of our second cycle programs. The Office of International Relations (IRO) works closely with program coordinators to determine the best partners, with the best exchange opportunities. The institution plans special funds to give program coordinators the opportunity to visit potentially partner institutions. The IRO participates in meetings with potential partners to form its own opinions and beliefs in the service of the process and to take measures for the readiness, procedures, and infrastructures of reception, accommodation, visits, etc.

One of the best benefits for students of Barleti, is the possibility to spend at least one semester abroad, with an Erasmus+ program. This opportunity is for students of all faculties. Barleti has a wide range of cooperation agreements with different universities in Europe and not only. We can mention Erasmus agreements with Transilvania University of Brasov, University of Szczecin Poland, Janos University of Applied Sciences, Hungary, West Attica University – Greece, Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, University of South Bohemia, Les Ribeira do Louro - Vigo, Spain etc. Not only Erasmus agreements, but there are also a high number of signed Memoranda of Agreements,such as with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Marmara University, Notre Dame University, Beirut, Lebanon etc. Each semester, we send our students abroad and host foreign students, as well.
Documentation before departure
Before the mobility, Erasmus Coordinators of both universities cooperate with each other by asking and receiving the necessary documentation. According to the case, this documents might include Mobility agreements (teaching or training, if it is staff mobility), Nomination Letter, invitation letter, scan of passport etc. Regarding students’ exchange, preliminary documents usually include Learning agreement (in which students should choose their subjects), passport, transcript of Records, Confirmation of language competences on B2 level, scan of passport etc. Sometimes, visa is required.
Students’ mobility includes 3-5 months, whereas staff exchange is for a period of 5 week days.

Activities held during the stay
During their stay in Barleti University, students, of course will take lectures together with the Albanian students of our university. Lectures are held in English, and students will fulfil all their academic obligations in Barleti, even their final assessment. At the end of their semester, they will have the right number of credits required for the next semester. In addition, they will benefit from all the other facilities of Barleti, all the spaces dedicated to students, entertainment activities, student clubs etc.
Whereas lecturers who join Barleti, will have the chance to meet our staff, who is always welcoming their foreign colleagues, aiming to strengthen the relation between universities and also to develop ways for research projects, networking, academic collaborations etc. Except of meetings with the academics, they will sometimes have to deliver lectures (in English) for our students, or other activities depending on their field of study.

STUDY PROGRAMS

Marin Barleti University operates in full compliance with Bologna system, thus offering the opportunity of ECTS transfers. In the light of student mobility, it offers a variety of courses for exchange students willing to come at UMB for an exchange period. The academic structure of “Marin Barleti University” is composed of three faculties; the research unit structure is composed of four institutes and two research centers. It offers 9 bachelor programs (with 13 others being approved) and 19 Master programs of study and Doctoral Programs in “International Studies for Family and Community” from Clemson University, USA. Also, 10 other 2-year vocational programs are being approved. At our university, there are currently 855 graduate students and 345 other students in Master's and Doctoral programs. The academic staff consists of 58 lecturers (150 planned); research institute staff consists of 25 researchers (50 planned); the support staff consists of 36 people (60 planned). Marin Barleti University is composed of two university campuses (I and II), with a total area of 1200 m2. Actually, 4 university campuses are projected by 2023
